The majority of the Church’s income is from the regular giving of the congregation. Most use the CMF scheme for their giving.
C.M.F. stands for Church Membership Fund. This scheme is a convenient way of contributing on a regular weekly or monthly basis to the running expenses of your church.
To join, you just sign a Pledge Form promising to give an affordable amount each week or month for a period of twelve months. You then receive a booklet of dated envelopes and each week or month you put your offering (coins, notes or cheques) in the envelope and put it in the collection bag on Sunday;
OR set up a standing order, in which case, your bank automatically transfers monies from your account to the church’s bank account.
If your circumstances change during the twelve months, you can increase, reduce or even cancel the amount of your contribution by just advising the C.M.F. and Gift Aid Secretary.
Should you be a tax payer then, provided the tax you pay is greater than that claimed by the church (25%* of the amount gift aided) then the tax you have paid on your gift can be claimed back from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) through Gift Aid**
Confidentiality is assured.
The advantage to the church is that it receives a regular known income and also it is a great benefit to the Church Treasurer and the Parochial Church Council (P.C.C.), that from the pledges made in April, a reasonably accurate estimate can be made of what the income from the C.M.F. will be for the year.
The P.C.C. therefore, commends this method of contributing to the church funds to all members of the Church Fellowship.
